1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Chronicle Makers (”the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. The Service is operated by PA Ancestors LLC through Denys(e) Allen (”we,” “us,” or “our”) and includes all services provided through:

- Skool Community Platform

- Substack Newsletter

- YouTube Channel

- Email Communications via Kit (formerly ConvertKit)

If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. About Our Services

Chronicle Makers provides educational content and resources to help genealogists and family historians research their family history and write engaging family history using AI-powered tools. We offer articles, courses, and community resources through various platforms.

2.1 No Guarantees on Genealogy Results

**Important Disclaimer**: We provide educational content and recommend tools and techniques for genealogy research and family history writing. However:

- We cannot guarantee any specific results from using the tools, techniques, or AI applications we recommend

- Genealogy research outcomes depend on many factors beyond our control, including historical record availability, accuracy of source materials, and how you apply the techniques

- You are responsible for verifying all genealogical information and research results

- It is assumed you will use the tools and techniques exactly as described in our educational materials

2.2 Appropriate Use of AI Tools

Our content is designed to teach responsible, ethical use of AI for genealogy research and family history writing.

- We cannot endorse or support uses of AI tools that differ from what we teach

- We are not responsible for how you choose to apply AI tools beyond our educational guidelines

- You are responsible for ensuring your use of any AI tools complies with those tools’ terms of service

2.3 Educational Service Only

Chronicle Makers provides educational content and methodologies. We are not:

- Professional genealogists providing research services

- Certified genetic genealogists

- Legal advisors regarding inheritance or legal matters

- Archivists or official record repositories

3. Membership Tiers and Access

Chronicle Makers courses and community access are provided through our Skool community platform. Current membership tiers, pricing, and benefits are detailed on our Skool community page.

3.1 Platform Terms

When you purchase access through Skool, you are also subject to:

- Skool’s terms of service

- Skool’s payment and refund policies

- Skool’s community guidelines

3.2 Our Refund Policy

- Monthly subscriptions: Cancel anytime; access continues until end of billing period

- Annual subscriptions: 14-day refund window from initial purchase date

- VIP annual memberships: 14-day refund window only; no refunds after this period due to immediate access to complete course curriculum and intellectual property

- Completed courses/cohorts: No refunds for programs you have fully participated in

- Refunds processed within 7-10 business days

3.3 Included Benefits

Some membership tiers include access to our Substack Premium subscription. These bundled benefits are non-transferable and have no separate cash value.

4. Payment Terms

4.1 Billing

- Monthly subscriptions renew automatically on the same day each month

- Annual subscriptions renew automatically after 12 months

- You are responsible for maintaining current payment information

- Price changes will be communicated 30 days in advance for existing members

4.2 Failed Payments

- Service access suspended after failed payment

- Account reactivated upon successful payment update

- Account may be terminated after 30 days of non-payment

5. User Responsibilities

5.1 Account Security

- You are responsible for maintaining account confidentiality

- You must notify us immediately of unauthorized access

- One account per person; sharing accounts violates these terms

5.2 Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

- Share, reproduce, or distribute course materials without permission

- Use the Service for any illegal purpose

- Harass, threaten, or abuse other members

- Post spam, malware, or malicious content

- Impersonate others or create false identities

- Scrape, copy, or automated extraction of content

- Share login credentials with others

- Use AI tools to recreate or reproduce our proprietary content

5.3 Community Guidelines

- Maintain respectful communication with all members

- Keep discussions focused on family history and chronicle writing

- Respect intellectual property of other members

- Follow moderator guidance and instructions

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Content

All content provided through Chronicle Makers is copyrighted by PA Ancestors LLC and Denyse Allen. This includes but is not limited to:

- Course curriculum and Lab materials

- Video lessons and tutorials

- Written guides and frameworks

- AI prompts and templates

- Worksheets and downloadables

- Community resources

- Articles and blog posts

- Images and graphics

- Website design and layout

You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use materials for personal, non-commercial use only.

6.2 What You Can Do

- Link to our content: You’re welcome to share links to our articles and pages

- Quote brief excerpts: You may quote small portions with proper attribution and a link back to the original source

- Learn and apply: Use what you learn for your own genealogy work

6.3 What You Cannot Do

- Copy and redistribute: Do not copy, paste, or republish our content on other websites, courses, or materials

- Sell our content: Do not package, sell, or profit from our educational materials

- Claim as your own: Do not present our work as your own

- Create derivative works: Do not create courses, books, or other products based substantially on our content without written permission

6.4 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you create and post in the community. By posting, you grant Chronicle Makers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content for promotional and educational purposes.

6.5 Testimonials and Success Stories

By sharing your success stories or participating in member spotlights, you grant permission for us to use your name, story, and results in marketing materials unless you explicitly opt out.

7. Third-Party Services

Chronicle Makers integrates with the following third-party services:

- Skool: Community platform for courses and member interaction

- Substack: Newsletter and premium content delivery

- YouTube. Video content hosting and delivery

- Kit (formerly ConvertKit): Email newsletter and course communications

- Stripe: Payment processing (through Skool)

- Notion: AI prompt hosting and survey management

- Tally.co: Survey forms

- Google Forms: Survey forms

- Super.so: Website hosting

- Carrd: Landing pages

- Luma: Webinar registration and hosting

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or technical issues with third-party services.

8. AI Tools and Content

8.1 AI-Assisted Learning

Chronicle Makers teaches methods for using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) for genealogy research and writing. You are responsible for:

- Verifying all AI-generated content for accuracy

- Following ethical guidelines for AI use in family history

- Complying with third-party AI service terms

- Understanding that AI tools can make errors

8.2 No Guarantee of Results

While we provide methodologies and frameworks for using AI tools effectively:

- Results vary based on individual effort and circumstances

- We do not guarantee specific outcomes from AI tool usage

- Historical accuracy remains your responsibility

- AI tools are assistants, not replacements for human judgment

9. Modifications to Services

We reserve the right to:

- Modify or discontinue any part of our services

- Update course content and educational materials

- Change pricing for future offerings (existing purchases honored at original terms)

- Add or remove features from membership tiers

Material changes affecting your current membership will be communicated 30 days in advance.

10. Disclaimers and Limitations

10.1 “As Is” Service

Chronicle Makers and PA Ancestors LLC provide educational content “as is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

- Fitness for a particular purpose

- Non-infringement

- Uninterrupted or error-free operation

- Accuracy of historical information

10.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

- Genealogical research results or outcomes

- Technical issues with third-party platforms

- Decisions you make based on our educational content

- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service

- Losses resulting from AI tool errors, historical inaccuracies, or third-party service failures

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

11.1 By You

- You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Skool account settings

- Access continues until the end of your billing period

- No refunds for partial months or unused annual subscription time (except within 14-day window)

11.2 By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

- Violate these Terms of Service

- Engage in prohibited conduct

- Fail to pay required fees

- Abuse or harass other members or staff

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before termination unless immediate action is required for legal or safety reasons.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be:

- Posted on chroniclemakers.com with the updated “Last Updated” date

- Communicated via email for material changes

- Effective 30 days after posting for existing members

- Effective immediately for new members

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

13. Dispute Resolution

13.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us at hello@chroniclemakers.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

13.2 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

13.3 Arbitration

Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association’s rules, conducted in Pennsylvania.

14. General Provisions

14.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Chronicle Makers regarding the Service.

14.2 Severability

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.

14.3 No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

14.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
